A Spoken Poem by Tonicus Balonicus

      by Elise Brand

The smell of something
Between a sandwich
And an industrial plant—
Chemical baloney,
Delaware south,
The other poultry capital per capita.
Confederate Carolina’s
Pungent southern hospitality
Strangely comforting here
In Charleston, this wafture
Of home.
